Naan Bread

Ingredients

  • 75ml warm water

  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 225g high grade flour
  • ½ tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 75ml EasiYo Greek Style yogurt
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Oil for brushing

 

Method

Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water.

 

Add the remaining ingredients and knead for 5-10 mins until dough is smooth and elastic.

 

Place in a greased bowl, cover and leave to double in size.  Gently remove from the bowl onto a floured bench. 

 

Flatten dough slightly and divide into 6-8 rectangle portions, like cutting a cake.  Roll out to a pear shape about 5mm thick.  Leave to rest for 5 minutes. 

 

Heat a cast iron pan on a high heat. 

 

Brush the naan with oil and place into hot pan.  Cook until bubbles appear and it’s nicely browned.  Oil again and flip over to cook other side. 

 

Place naan’s in a clean tea towel to keep warm until needed.

 

Serve with curry or Coconut & Lime Marinated Tandoori Chicken and Yogurt Raita
